The urgency of the article is conditioned by the fact that the relation to the property is not static, the person, based on the sequence of evolutionary processes, tries to redefine a category such as «property» in a new way. That is why the category «property» in all its diversity is currently relevant. At the same time, it will be productive to consider ownership not only as a legal category with the use of a historical approach, but also its research from other perspectives, since it is the property, first and foremost, studied by philosophers and economists. The purpose of the paper is to confirm the «status» of property as an interdisciplinary category by expanding the field of study. In the process of research used scientific works of economists, lawyers, philosophers. The main methods used in the preparation of the article are the method of analysis and synthesis, the method of comparative analysis. As a result of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: firstly, the general development of our society (on a human scale) is associated with property, all changes in the socio-economic life of a person and society are directly dependent on changes in property. The modern stage of development of a society based on the capitalist system only confirms this thesis, since its foundation is «three whales», one of which is private property; and secondly, property is the unity of philosophical, legal and economic aspects. Any study of the category of «property», within which discipline it would not be implemented, should take into account this fact, and only in this case, the study will be complete and scientifically substantiated; Thirdly, from a philosophical point of view, property, as a sign, is declared innate, given by nature, inherent in any person. Ownership is formulated as belonging to the relevant object to one or another person; fourthly, from a legal point of view property as a category expresses the rights of anyone to any property relations, expressed by the triad of powers: possession, use and disposal; fifth, from an economic point of view property as a category expresses the relation of different owners among themselves, as well as owners and direct producers of goods; sixthly, from a social point of view property as a category expresses the connection between personality and society, forms a person's sense of property in relation to objects of the material world, regardless of their subject identity.
