The article analyzes the status of legislation governing relations in the field of organic agricultural production in Ukraine. We proved that updating the legislation in this the area through the repeal of the Law of Ukraine «On Production and Circulation of Organic Agricultural Products and Raw Materials» and the adoption of the Law of Ukraine «On Basic Principles and Requirements for Organic Production, Circulation, and Labeling of Organic Products» is a the justified and timely step towards the intensification of organic production as a promising area of agricultural activity for Ukraine. We researched that the state of regulation of relations on organic agricultural production at the secondary level and, therefore, the impossibility of implementing legislative provisions, is the main reason that hinders the development of domestic organic production. We concluded that it is necessary to bring the Procedure (detailed rules) of organic production and circulation of organic products in line with domestic legislation (in particular, in terms environmental impact assessment) and international acts (on individual requirements for labeling of certain types of organic products).
