The article investigates the system of fixing traffic violations in automatic mode. It is determined that the situations caused by accidents in our country are the reason for rethinking society’s aƫtude to the issues of transport safety, as well as developing effective mechanisms for the prevention of deaths and injuries to people on the roads. It was found out that in order to effectively discharge the powers of the National Police bodies, the legislature of Ukraine was not so long ago, introduced an automatic fixing of offenses, norms and standards, rules concerning road safety. The main objective of such a system was to ensure the principle of inevitability of punishment, to prevent corruption risks and to minimize the impact of the «human factor» in cases of administrative offenses. Attention is drawn to the fact that the launch of the road traffic enforcement system on 1 May 2020 should be an event that has been necessary for the last five years. The thesis that the Institute for Administrative Liability for Offenses in the Field of Road Safety, recorded in the automatic mode, has a number of problems and gaps is confirmed. First, it was found that by introducing the notion of a proper vehicle user, the legislator did not provide a legislative definition of such a subject, which is a problem and will need to be addressed and addressed at the legislative level. Secondly, it is found that the figure of 150 penalty points, which is stipulated by the current Code of Administrative Offenses, is unclear. Such a system of scoring points is a write-off, and should be accumulative, which is in place in most European countries.
